No running and even walking is seriously frowned upon, until things are sorted out.
The "things" are:
- Stress fractures (I can't be bothered to remember the fancy medical terms) in both legs, top of fib on left leg, bottom of femur on right.
- Stiffness in must of the muscles in my legs. This is where Wilna is doing miracles.
- Hips that rotate out unnaturally, and therefore feet too. This causes unusual stress in all sorts of places. This is where George is doing his stuff.
To date, I'm generally pointing in the right direction, have inserts in my shoes to balance out the stresses and on the whole W & G seem pleased with progress.
It'll be late November, at the earliest, before I'm even thinking of running. Right now, I'm not even allowed to walk to work - "no more than 10 mins, 2 or 3 times a week."
All this was quite difficult at the beginning as I'd got a bit addicted to running, then I tried P90X, but had to stop a lot of that - especially the plyometrics - so I joined a local gym so I can swim.
I'm getting used to the lack of exercise, especially the cardio, and this worries me as I don't want to get used to not exercising. At least I'm not gaining weight. A month ago, I was around 92.5kg and today I'm 93. This in spite of raising my daily calorie intake by 300.
